Thank you so much to the Committee for a second chance to judge this well-run show after last year’s cancellation due to the bad weather. Quality was high, making some decisions hair-splitting and pedantic so thank you to all the exhibitors who gave me a lovely entry and some headaches.
Puppy (8,1ab)
Lovely puppy class with some very promising youngsters which augers well for the breed’s future. My choices I’m sure will swap places in their careers.
1st and BP Frampton’s Strathmead Penny Whistle
8 and half month old bitch nice head with sweet expression, good length of neck flowing into lovely shoulders to correct front construction with sufficient forechest, excellent bone throughout and neat feet. Moved nicely going to and from with drive from the side. I would have preferred slightly darker coat. Beat 2nd on overall balance and movement on the day.
2nd Humphrey’s Suteresett Miss Curious about Henaleas
3rd Cuddy’s Aoibheannes Quite the Rebel by Balbriggan

Junior (5, 4ab)
1st MacPherson’s Macarica Fire Dancer over Rishona
Stood alone but had some nice points to go over. Lovely dark coat with correct topline and good forechest. Nice ‘all-dog’ head with kind eye. A little heavy throughout the body for me but has excellent angulation front and back allowing him to move well.

Post Graduate (10,2ab)
Delightful class to judge and difficult decisions to be made.
1st and BOB Cuddy’s Suteresett Royal Ripple with Balbriggan
Took my eye as he walked into the ring. Lovely headed dog with correct depth to muzzle, low ear set and the most gentle expression. Elegant outline with good length of neck into correct shoulders giving a flowing topline with nice tailset. Front angulation was excellent with a prominent forechest. Sufficient bend of stifle allowing him to move true from all angles. Won over a lovely bitch who was not behaving today for her handler but showed enough to gain 2nd place.
2nd Elkins’ Avacet Snowbird
3rd Vatcher & Jones’ Wynjill Farmers Boy

Open (7, 3ab)
1st Waterton’s Lynwood Kissed by an Angel at Sandstream JW ShCM
Elegant bitch that I’ve watched throughout her career and she didn’t disappoint when going over her. Pleasing head with sweet Irish expression, good length of neck into nice shoulders, very good front angulation and forechest. Movement was straight and true with drive. Shown in lovely condition with gleaming coat. Just lost out in the challenge as she was not showing her best at that point. Preferred front angulation to the 2nd placed dog.
2nd Byrne, Edwards & Howletts’ Siochanna Irish Legend ShCM
3rd Fox’s Satlas Bleau Eyes
