Critique - Judge Angela Roberts (Polmennor)
Thank you to the committee for inviting me and the hospitality. I felt honoured to have such a lovely entry filled with quality especially at a time when entries are falling. I was impressed how well muscled most were showing they had been well exercised over what has been a long hard winter. With all of that movement still left a lot to be desired. The floor possibly didn’t help and I did forgive some that didn’t move very well on it. It also showed up the ones who didn’t have the best of feet.

1 Gardner’s Carnbargus Confetti 2 nice puppies headed this class. 1st was an elegant 8½ month old bitch. Well balanced, lovely reach of neck, smooth over the shoulders into a correct topline and tailset, good forechest, depth of chest and upper arm angulation, lovely angulations to her hind quarters, moved well for her age but would have liked more forward reach. Beat a dog with good body properties that moved well but his head was a bit overdone for me at this stage.

1 A lovely puppy class with quality exhibits all the way down the placings. BPIB Gwilliam’s Millcroft Poachers Moon 11 month old puppy dog. I loved him when I saw him at 6 months so was pleased to be able to judge him as a more mature puppy. Quite a strong head but well balanced, showing good stop and soft expression. Nice length to neck, flowing into topline . Deep through the chest and body. Strong hindquarters with good set on of tail both used to advantage on the move. His handler is not an experienced one but she did enough to take him to the top of the class and he looked and went very well in the big ring for BPIS.

1 Walsh’s Millcroft Ballad Of The Moon Another lovely exhibit from the same kennel as my best puppy. She is so together for her age. Not a big bitch but full of quality and flowing from the tip of her nose to the end of her tail. Pretty head with dark correctly shaped eyes, straight front, lovely arch to her neck, deep in the chest, balanced angulations and the best mover of the day. Gorgeous dark coat in lovely shiny condition and expertly handled. This win gave her her JW, congratulations, it is well deserved. Beat another very nice bitch who was not being cooperative on the day and therefore not making the best of herself.

1 Gisby & Pike’s Suttersett Milky Way With Scarletti 2nd in the very good puppy class and his head is more to my liking than the winner. He is another youngster full of quality, so eyecatching with his glamorous coat colour. Very well balanced with lovely arch to neck and straight front and one of the few to stand on very good feet. Short from hock to heel and moved well.

1 BOS Waterton’s Lynwood Kissed By An Angel At Sandstream Really spoilt for choice in this class as the first 3 were top class and hard to separate. They all have very good conformation, straight fronts, neck into topline and shoulder placement all very good, lovely toplines, deep through the body and the best of hindquarters and all of them moving soundly although this one was not concentrating. This one was shorter in body than 2 but my preference was for her prettier head. Placings could easily change on another day and they will all have successful futures.

1 BOB Milligan Bott & Bott’s Thendara Kramer 2 ½ year old dog. He was the one on the day that filled my eye despite being awkward. The dogs all seemed to be giving their owners a hard time. He is top quality and possesses a handsome head. I am so fussy about dogs heads and it’s not often I find exactly what I like but this one appeals although after a long winter his nose could do with some sunshine! Beautifully set on ears, straight front and an excellent forehand, deep in the chest, good over the croup and well muscled hindquarters with correct bend to stifle, short from hock to heel. He has a dark shiny coat of just the right texture and presented immaculately. At first looking at him in profile he looks a very mature dog but when going over him it is obvious he is still quite young and is at the correct stage of development for his age. Not always standing to advantage which made him lose his topline at times but sound on the move and went on to win RBIS, well done

1 RBOB Needs Covarney Mocha He has matured into a lovely dog, the last time I judged him he was young and very raw. Nice skull shape with work in it, straight front and neat feet, good in neck and shoulders, deep in chest, excellent topline and bend of stifle with good definition at the hocks, nice tailset and a rich coloured coat which was in lovely condition and plenty of thick feathering. I would have preferred more positive rear movement but a big dog in a confined space is not ideal and we always dream of judging them outside on grass in the sunshine.
