Critique - Judges: Dogs - Julie Wilkins (Margretwoods)

Irish Setter Dogs

Minor Puppy:

1. Gisby's Suteresett Mr Cool. Stood alone which perhaps added to him being a little unsettled in the venue. He has the most beautiful head with soft expression under raised brow with dark eyes finished off with long lowset ears. Straight front into well laid back shoulders with good return of upper arm. He has wonderful easy long striding free flowing movement.

Puppy:

1. Anthony & Stuart's Cordarragh Solitaire. I do like a puppy dog to have a bit of substance and be well bodied at this age and this young chap fitted the bill perfectly. Full of character as they should be at this age, he is well bodied with excellent body depth and great width to the stifle. He has good body length from well placed shoulders and flowing topline into correct tailset. BPD. Had to give way in the challenge to a very lovely bitch puppy.

2. Lucas' Kerryfair Gets Lucky over Amberlight. Lighter framed puppy at present but very well balanced with straight front on good feet through to sweeping stifle. Moved soundly and steadily.

3. Suteresett Mr Cool

Junior:

Two youngsters at very different stages of development.

1.Williamson's Keljaru Lovely Jubbly Not as mature and currently between coats but he has a lovely head with soft expression, straight front, super topline. Strong hocks from which he moved very well and true. His overall soundness won him the class.

2. Richardson's Brabrook Flash Harry at Montgreenan. More mature in body and coat finish. Good depth all through with nice topline and tailset. Just needs to strengthen in front.

Yearling:

1. Armstrong-Rodgers & Cooper's Wickenberry Sirius . Beautiful dark coated boy, short coupled and built on flowing lines. Gorgeous head expression with correct eye shape and raised brow, straight front into neat tight feet. Good rear angulation and the best mover in the class.

2.Hannah's Fetteresk Snow Patrol . Liked this boy but it was a shame he was unable to use his tail on the move. He has a lovely head with wide nostrils and lowest ears. Good angulation overall but preferred the feet on 1.

3. Christie's Drumwhaur Irish Gold

Novice:

1. Kerryfair Gets Lucky over Amberlight
2. Brabrook Flash Harry at Montgreenan
3.Withey'sWhistling Jack

Graduate:

1.Rance's Mayfred Mr Magnifico. Taking time to mature slowly but coat looks like it's on the way. Straight front into neat feet, short in hock. Good topline and scored in croup over 2nd. Well presented.

2. Wigfull & Hartley's Anlory Goldfinger. Shorter coupled dog of more moderate angulation. Pleasing head with soft expression. Moved very well.

3. Bennett & Dixon's Balintyne Luck of the Draw JW

Post Graduate:

1. Withey's Bridgella Northern Lights. A real honest classic type of dog. Maturing nicely since I last judged him. Gorgeous head expression. Excellent substance and depth of body, good angulation particulary at the rear

2.Wood's Reddins Falcon. Love this dog on the move, he is so sound. Beautifully balanced with lovely straight front. Just preferred the head of 1.

3. Ross' Kettlehills Star Trouper

Limit:

1. Gisby & Pike's Suteresett Milky Way with Scarletti. Gave him BPIS at his first ever show at 6 months old and he has never looked back. Recently crowned and so well deserved. This boy has the most stunning head, soft expressive dark eyes under raised brows, pronounced occiput, good finish to muzzle and finished off with long low set ears neatly folded to the head. Just scrumptious. Underneath the fabulous dark gleaming coat there is a flowing topline from the most excellent shoulder placement to correct tailset right down to his neat feet. Still young and I think still has his best yet to come. Well deserved Res CC behind a dog on top form.

2. Gardner's Riqitta Authentic. Another lovely typy dog that was unlucky to meet 1 in such good form. Lovely masculine head not overdone in anyway. Strong clean neck into flowing topline and good tailset. Super rear angulation. Presented in fabulous coat. I am sure he will get his title.

3. Danks-Kemish's Tiroen Time After Time for Alolfran JW Sh. CM

Open:

The most fabulous line up. Shame I only had 1 red card.

1. Mclarnon's Sh Ch Ir Sh Ch Northamber Just Cause for Glenavna. Last time I also gave him the open class but he gave up in the challenge. Not so today!! Today he proved he was the ultimate showman and kept that mischievous irishness in check. He is mouth-wateringly glamorous but underneath that is a fantastic, sound, well constructed setter. Stunning head flowing into strong neck, excellent shoulder placement, topline that just flows to the end of his tail and on into sweeping stifles and short hocks. He really comes into his own on the move. Even in an indoor ring he really drove round the ring covering the ground holding his topline and super tail carriage. Had no hesitation today in awarding him the CC, his 19th I understand.

2. Chorley-Newton & Chorley's Sh Ch Kerryfair Snow Fox JW Another I have so much admired who is now fully matured and at his best. A smaller shorter couple dog but still has so much substance. Beautifully balanced with nothing exaggerated. Sweetest of heads and excellent sound movement. Extremely close for the res cc.
