Critique -Judges: Dogs: Mr David Bell 

It was interesting to see a new generation of males, not having judged dogs for almost 6 years, that being the normal show career these days. I find less consistency in type, or should I say Style of dog than in years gone by, which is probably due to the majority of dogs being bred by "Hobby Breeders" these days. I do not mean this in a derogatory manner, merely a reflection of modern living. We do not now have kennels with upwards of ten bitches bred along similar lines which can be used for "experimenting" with a range of sires. I think it a credit to some of the more discerning breeders today who have a good strike rate with limited litters, but are naturally limited when striving to introduce a trait they desire.

Minor Puppy (12,1)

1. Ceichonska Aoibheanne Quite By Design ,Beautifully balanced baby with a classic outline, even at this tender age. Excellent finish to croup, lovely firmness to his body, correct angulation in front, deep through the chest, firm in loin, no exaggeration through his hindquarters, strode freely around the ring on lovely tight feet. To top it all he has a melting expression. BPD

2. Rose-Hay Cataluna Red Baron, Shorter in the body than winner, has lovely ribcage, deep and well sprung, wide powerful hindquarters which he used to advantage

3. Mugford Lynwood Lark in the Dark

Puppy (9,1)

1. Nichols Delsanto Snowstorm, good balance in angulation, refined head with good finish to muzzle and parallel planes, moderate length of neck set well into shoulders, firm topline, neat feet, steady on the move.

2. Mugford Lynwood Lark in the Dark, just a baby, sweet head, adequate front angulation, gentle sloping topline, wide hindquarters with correct finish to croup. Not so settled on the move as winner today

3. Cuddy Aoibheanne Quite the Rebel by Balbriggan

Junior (11,6 )

1. Milligan-Bott & Bott Thendara Pot Noodle, won on his stylish outline and extensive movement. Head much improving, good finish to muzzle, deep chest with developed sternum, elbows tight in and good finish to croup

2. Bouttell & Humphrey Ixia Joseph lovely front angulation with free reaching movement. Strong neck set well into shoulders, deep wide ribs, shorter coupled than winner, wide powerful hindquarters.

3. Richardson Kirkavagh Hernando

Graduate ( 21,2)

1. Bott Bardonhill Tom Foolery, loved his outline, strong neck, deep chest, well ribbed back, strong through the loin, wide powerful hindquarters holding a firm topline on the move. Would prefer a leaner head, but he has good finish to muzzle, parallel planes and finish to backskull. Presented in good coat and moved freely around the ring with handler in tow.

2. Needs Thendara Joe Le Taxi for Stourford smaller dog and not quite as positive on the move today. Lovely set to neck and shoulders, deep through chest and good finish to croup. Presented in super coat and condition.

3. Stubbs Riverbrue Zeus

Post Graduate ( 15,4 )

1. Lewis Deaconara Dans de Bleu avec Dotcomsetter loved him for his size and balanced angulation. Deep well sprung ribs, wide powerful hindquarters, lovely bone and feet. A lovely dog with no exaggeration . Just would have liked a little more on the move, especially in the challenge, and would benefit from some work on his coat.

2. Wood Reddins Falcon now growing into a stylish dog, but still immature when hands on. Would prefer a shade darker eye. Firm topline, good finish to croup, well turned stifle, moved steadily.

3. Kniveton Feylinci Beachcomer at Orstone

Limit ( 19, 5 )

1. Mugford Copper's Undercover at Lynwood such balance and style, in super hard condition. Must just be hitting his peak. Presents a classic racy outline, with lovely return of upper arm, lay of shoulder, deep ribs, wide hindquarters, firm topline with just the hint of break over the croup to tail carried level with back. Good depth of coat with no exaggeration.Like all good dogs there is an "if only". There is just a hint of plainness between the eyes which are the correct shape and colour and well set. Moved with power and drive to CC and BOB

2. Ceichonska Copper's Champagne on ice at Aoibheanne smaller dog, perhaps would like more leg. Having said that he appeals to me greatly for type and style. Has the most adorable head, with softest of expression that is "pure Irish". Strong neck and wide hindquarters. Moved out well for his young handler

3. Milligan-Bott & Bott Thendara Kramer

Open (16, 14 )

1. McLarnon Sh CH Northamber Just Cause for Glenavna A dog in his prime, fully coated and well put down. Has a delightful head, melting expression, wide powerful hindquarters good legs and feet. Moved with drive, just preffered the firmness in topline of Limit dog on the move. RCC

2. Kennedy Sh CH Glennara Coer De Lion a dog of similar style to winner and is improving all the time. A touch wider in front, but excellent lay of shoulder, firm topline, good finish to croup and steady movement. Has a balanced head with lovely expression

3. Bott Sh CH Bardonhill Ginger Winger

Veteran (3,1)

1. Bott & Morgan Sh CH Ember Gene Simmons Sings Quensha certainly gave the younger dogs a good run, hence very close up for top honours. This boy excels on the move, scores in front angulation and wide powerful quarters, perhaps a tad shorter in loin, well presented in fine condition. BVet

2. Lauwers Sh CH Sumaric Shadow of Mr Jungles has a lovely head and expression. Deep through the rib with wide quarters. Not the measured movement of winner
