Bitches 7
A good entry decimated by poor weather and road conditions. I found my winners pleasing for breed type and soundness, which having satisfied those criteria decisions were very much about performance on the day. I was disappointed to find a number of eyes which were concerning and surprising.
Minor Puppy Bitch (12,7)
1. Grattons Reddins Lydia at Glenlaine baby of balanced proportions, deep through the chest and wide in hindquarters. Pretty head with pleasing expression, moved freely around the ring.
2. Evans Neathamill Firebird a little lacking in angulation at present and a little long in loin, not the head or freedom in gait as the winner.
3. Dudley's Fairuby Marilyn
Puppy Bitch (11,5)
Chorley-Newton & Chorley Kerryfair Red Evie Liked this little girl for her balance, straight when viewed from the front and rear with deep chest and wide quarters. Kind expressive eyes, standing on good legs and feet.
2. Henderson's Sametsuz Call Girl preferred the softness of expression of winner at the moment, but has good body properties, deep through the chest, strong in loin and wide in hindquarters, just needing a little more development in stifle, but for a youngster shows good promise.
3. Naylor & Morrison Anlory Carmenere
Veteran Bitch (10,4)
1. Powis's Sh Ch Amberwave Dazzle a bitch of sheer quality. Has the classic head so rarely seen these days, perfectly balanced with lovely length and finish to muzzle, parallel in planes, correct oval skull, finely chiseled, and an exquisite expression, adequate stop accentuated by quizzical brows showing true irish expression. Has a wonderful front assembly, firm topline and wide quarters, with super reaching front movement and driving quarters. Seriously considered for the top spot, but on the day I felt that she had not the body condition for top honours Best Veteran
2. Douthwaite & Wharfe Gracewood Show Stopper bigger girl all over and a shade long in loin. Sweetest of heads. Has good angulation and a true front, Not the extension on the move of winner
3. Waterton's Lynwood Strands of Silk at Sandstream
Junior Bitch (16,3)
1. Waterton's Lynwoodd Kissed by an Angel at Sandstream Lovely youngster showing the desired racy appearance and balance. Balanced head with kind expression, eye shape and colour correct, moderate neck set well into well laid shoulder, ribs developing, well turned stifle with sound steady movement.
2. Durant's Kirkavagh Iliona not quite the raciness of winner, shorter in body, but has a pleasing head with good finish to foreface, scored in movement.
3. Watt's Shenanagin Sugar Babe
Yearling Bitch (15,7)
1. Rout's Shaytell My Happiness lovely type of bitch, clean outline over neck and shoulder, deep chest, well ribbed back, wide quarters, moving soundly. A little more to come in head but pleasing in expression
2. Henderson's Sametsuz a Taste of Honey sound bitch, racy in appearance, good body proportions, with straight front, well sprung ribs, deep and well back, moved soundly off wide quarters
3. Stevenson's Lochlorien Prime Suspect for Andley
Maiden Bitch (15,5)
1. Henderson's Sametsuz Call Girl
2. Naylor & Morrison Anlory Carmenere a little heavier in appearance than winner at present, but built on sound lines with good deep well sprung ribs, firm topline, free movement.
3. Durant's Kirkavagh Iliona
Novice Bitch (11,4)
1. Waterton's Lynwood Kissed by an Angel at Sandstream
2. Henderson's Sametsuz Call Girl
3. Durant's Kirkavagh Iliona
Undergraduate Bitch (13,6)
1. Waterton's Lynwood Kissed by an Angel at Sandstream
2. Clemence Anlory Corvina loved her front assembly, a better finish over croup would have completed a very pleasing picture, lacked drive in her movement on the day
3. King's Kirkavagh Ivanjica
Graduate Bitch (15,7)
1. Hinslea's Northamber Causin a Riot JW super body and finish which got her over the line ahead of two super bitches in this class. Lovely proportioned head, with good length of muzzle, kind expression, deep well sprung chest, wide quarters giving freedom of movement. Liked her coat type and colour.
2. Powis's Amberwave Freckles stylish bitch with balanced outline, scores in movement, lost out a little on maturity and finish to winner
3. Bott's Bardonhill Days are Diamond JW
Post Graduate Bitch (12,5)
1. Cregan's Riqitta Shillelagh Gold at Wishingtree a super bitch who had it all on the day. Loveliest of heads, balanced and feminine, racy outline with substance, flowed from her well laid shoulders, through deep well ribbed chest, strong loin and wide powerful quarters. Driving movement with characteristic lashing tail, what a joy. CC & BIS
2. Powis's Amberwave Blush A quality bitch, a little taller, but has balance and substance and that lovely long effortless movement much desired
3. Chorley-Newton & Chorley Outfoxed by Kerryfair
Mid Limit Bitch (9,4)
1. Powis's Amberwave Truffle JW another well balanced bitch with effortless movement. Lovely front angulation, straight and deep in front, pretty head, well proportioned with kind expression. Not in her best coat on the day
2. Waterton & Dowle Barleydale Honeymoon JW Similar in appearance to winner but not the effortless movement on day. Has a pleasing head with correct finish to foreface, good eye shape and colour. Maintained a firm topline
3. Wilkins Margretwoods Kitty Cat
Limit Bitch (16,10)
1. Muir's Romarne Hayley JW Liked this bitch for her outline and balance. Flowed nicely over well laid shoulders, good ribs, firm strong loin, wide quarters with excellent croup, and the best of legs and feet. Would like more work in her head to soften her expression, but I see she is a young bitch and has time to develop
2. Kavanagh Withersdale Morning Mist Shorter in body than winner. Has a super forehand, deep chest and good finish to croup. Pleasing inhead with correct finish to muzzle and lovely eye colour aand expression. Good driving movement
3. Evans Goldings Silver Sixpence
Open Bitch (4,1)
1. Hunter & Brown Sh Ch Braidmount Geisha Girl sound bitch in super coat and condition. Firm in topline, best of ribs and wide hindquarters. Moved soundly. When it came to the challenge I preferred the gentleness of expression of CC winner and her driving movement and tail action. Delighted to award her the RCC
2. Powis's Sh Ch Amberwave Spangle JW Lovely headed bitch, racy in appearance, sound all through. Has correct proportions with balance front & rear giving graceful sound movement. A real headache with these 3 bitches and could I am sure change places on another occasion
3. Kavanagh Sh Ch Withersdale Ivy
Breeders Competition.
Mrs Bott's group stood alone, but worthy winners. Exhibited what all breeders strive for, that consistency of breed type, soundness and balance. A nice group of youngsters, 2 dogs and 2 bitches who made up a fine family group.
