Joint Irish Setter Breed Clubs Championship Show 11 April 2010

Critique - Judge - Enid Hinslea

Fantastic entry both in quality and numbers.

MPD (6)

1. Sturrock's Forfarian Catch me if you can. Lovely dark coated puppy. Good head which still needs to break, well boned, good topline and tailset. Moved freely.

2. Rances Mayfred Mr Magnifico. Smaller type of dog but has good balance, fine head, dark eye, best of feet and front - again moved well for his age

3. Barker Bells Ballintyn e the Continental.

PD (10)

1. Lewis's Deaconara Danse De Bleu avec Dotcomsetter. Very mature pupply for his 10 months. So well balanced. Already has a masculine head, dark eye, strong firm topline. Good bone and feet, lovely dark coat of good texture, well ribbed and has good angulation. Moved very soundly. Best puppy dog and BPIS.

2. Ostman's Coppers Magiska Under. Very different in type but a lovely puppy. In excellent coat and condition. Finer in head than 1, straight front, good shoulder placement, ribbed well back, well bent stifle and moved very freely. Unlucky to meet 1.

3. Gisby and Pile's Sutterset Milky Way with Scarletti.

VETERAN DOG (3)

All three were a credit to their obviously caring owners.

1. Davies Lochfrae Ralph Lauren Lovely boy of 7 years. Still has a good front and feet. Masculine head, flowing lines from his well set shoulder to his correct tailset. The best I have ever seen this boy move.

2. Lucas's Caskeys Persuader from Amberlight. Favourite of mine. 9 years young. Gorgeous head, well balanced and sound on the move. Just lacked the furnishings of one to complete the picture.

3. Richardson's Cataluna Smart Alec at Montgreenan.

JUNIOR DOG (10)

1. Cieconska's Coppers Champagne on Ice at Aoibheanne. Full of type and quality. Loved his head and expression. Well arched neck fitting smoothly into his shoulder. well ribbed, goood over the croup, moved very soundly off strong quarters.

2. Greenan's Anlory the Living Daylights over Julieset. Lovely masculine head with raised brow, shoulder placement correct, kept his topline on the move and was very sound. Shown in good coat and condition.

3. Rowans Lotishill Masterclass

YEARLING DOG (7)

1. Vallance's Braidmount Midnight Roue. Beautifull type of dog who is so well balanced, lovely refined head with a soft expression, correct angulation, straight front, good depth of chest, correct finish to croup. moved with drive and was very sound.

2. Van Hal's Houston of the Travlin Star. Close decision between first and second. Lean head, dark eye, clean over shoulder, shown in lovely coat and condition. Just preferred the hind movement of the first.

3. Hunter's Sametsuz Scriptwriter.

MAIDEN DOG (10)

1. Lewis's Deaconara Danse De Bleu avec Dotcomsetter

2. Rowan's Lotishill Masterclass Dog maturing nicely. Again lovely type. Gorgeous head, well boned, tight feet, has good balance and strong quarters. In good coat and condition. Think his handler needs a bit more practice.

3. Wood's Reddins Falcon.

NOVICE DOG (8)

1. Ciechonska's Coppers Champagne on Ice at Aoibheanne

2. Greenan's Anlory the Loving Daylights over Julieset

3. Lewis's Deaconara Danse De Bleu avec Dotcomsetter

UNDERGRADULTE DOG (7)

1. Loughlan's Rohanmore One Step Beyond Very different in type to my other class winners but could not go past his good construction and should driving movement. Shown in great condition. Masculine head but I would just prefer him finer over the skull but won this class on his maturity.

2. Ciechonska's Coppers Champagne on Ice at Aiobheanne.

3. Greenan's Anlory the Living Daylights over Julieset.

GRADUATE DOG (8)

1. Roffey's Gwendariff Top of the Pops. Don't recall seeing this boy before. Quality two year old. Lovely make and shape. Good front, quarters and topline. Lean head but I personally would like a little more work in it. Liked the movement in his coat.

2. Loughlan's Rohanmore You were Made for Me. A little heavy in head for me but he is well balanced, good topline neck and shoulders. Moved well off well muscled quarters.

3. Coopers Karidell Captivation for Hugared.

POSTGRADUATE DOG (16)

1. Brown's Caskeys Hazard. Lovely mature dog, liked his type and balance. Masculine head but has a lovely soft expression, straight front, well angulated quarters, short hocks which enabled hinm to dirve round the ring. In lovely coat and condition.

2. Kniveton's Serrula Playaround at Orstone. Would not have thought this boy would have been my cup of tea but he has a lovely head, dark eye, low set ear, strong topline, well set tail. He is just so well made and sound.

Hunter and Brown's Shenanagan Scholar with Braidmount

LIMIT DOG (16)

1. Condron's Covarney Masterclass. Loved the type of this dog. Masculine head without any courseness, well boned, correct length of neck, well angulated fore and aft, good depth of chest, well ribbed, moved well off strong quarters, shown in full coat. Suddenly went lame in the challenge.

2. Willis's Jacwillins Willoughby. Super dog, stunning in ourline, correct amou nt of bone, flows from nose to tail. Moved well off well muscled quarters. In good coat and condition.

3. Stocktons Kespas Infared.

OPEN DOG (9)

1. Milligan-Bott & Bott's Scotslaw Detroit Spinner by Thendara. Always lliked this dog and today he looked fantastic. Moved with drive and style. As always presented to perfection. CC. RBIS

2. Holehan & North's Sh Ch Erinade Starwars. Another lovely headed dog with a melting expression. Good length of neck. Shoulders well laid back, kept his topline at all times, good depth of chest, sloping topline. Moved very soundly with drive. Shown in lovely coat and condition. RCC

1. Sturrocks Forfarian Caught you Lookin. Pretty girl, fine head which still need to break, good bone and feet. correct angulation. Moved very well for a baby.

2. Mann & Condron's Covarney Annabelle with Hopstone. Well balanced bitch but finer all through than one. Pretty feminine head. Good outline and balance. Mooved soundly.

2. Gardiner's Carnbargus Confetti. Promising baby. Straight front, neat feet, more mature than the first but preferred my winners finish over the croup.

3. Gisby's Sutterset Black Magic

VETERAN BITCH (11)

1. Vallance's Braidmount Georgie Girl. This young lady of 7and a half just seems to get better as she gets older. She is very well made and is so sound on the move. Shown in very good coat and condition.

3. Condron's Scotslaw Memphis Belle at Covarney

LIMIT BITCH (23)

Such quality in this class, a real headache to judge with many lovely bitches being unplaced.

1. Hogsflesh's Lyngor Living Water. Have competed against this one many times and have watched her change from a chunky puppy to an elegant adult. Feminine head and expression, just flows over the shoulders, good depth and rib, well angulated quarters and moved with drive and some style.

2. Pollard's Grayrigge Maeve. Very similar in type to my first and hard to separate. Very feminine girl, pronounced sternum, well arched neck, pretty head with plenty of work, front angulation correct. Have never seen her carry so much coat and feather. Suits her.
