ISBC Championship Show 27 March 2010 Bitches

Critique - Judge - Carolyn Hogsflesh

BITCHES

I would like to thank the committee for their warm hospitality,my two stewards for their help and also the exhibitors for a raelly nice entry givingme plenty to do during my days judging. While I was very happy with my winners,in fact so much so that in the top classes from PG to Open I was splitting hairs for my placings and in the challenge could easily have given my CC to any one of the 4 winners it was a really hard decision and could go another way another day. I know this is often said but this day I really felt this.On the negative side I have to say I was disappointed with some of the heads which I felt were plain and just not feminine enough,we need to watch we do not loose our soft quizical Irish expressions, also there were quite a few taller squarer bitches which does not give the typical “Irish” outline with the gently sloping topline that so typifies our breed.Presentation on the whole was good – but handlers do need to make the best of their dogs.

MinorPuppy 9(2)

1. Mann & Condron Covarney Annabelle with Hopstone I see from her date of birth this must have been her first show 6m to the day so very much a baby but what a pretty one , she’s a lovely shape and has a very sweet head with eyes full of mischief, a good front and the rest of her body developing at the right rate for her age , she moved steadily enough for one so young.

2. Wheeldon Bardonhill Ka Ching a slightly more mature puppy who appealed in outline and overall soundness of construction, though finer made she has a very pretty head with a dark eye and kind expression not so steady on the move as the winner ,she and her handler need to work more in unison then the steadier movement will come.

3. Sturrock Forfarian Caght You Lookin.

Puppy18(5)

1.Weller Suttersett Wispa at Juledeane I really liked this puppy`s type so beautifully constructed things coming together nicely very attractive feminine head true front ,neat feet deep, brisket ,firm topline and strong quarters, steady and confident on the move and owning a dark gleaming coat.Just beaten for Best Puppy by her lovely brother.

2. Hall Shenanagin Stardrift at Glennara well grown puppy on her last day in this class stronger in head than the winner but still ballanced and feminine with a soft gentle expression, good bone ,firm topline, strong loin and quarters not quite so together on the move yet,but I`m sure that will come.

3. Heron CaskeysFabulous Feebee.

Veteran 8(2)

1. Vallance Braidmount Georgie Girl ShCm this girl is looking great even better than when I judged her last, appealing ballanced head with soft expression, good reach of neck ,firm topline, well sprung ribs and depth of chest, strong quarters and free striding positive movement really enjoying herself and using her tail.My co-judge and I were in complete agreement in giving her Best Veteran well done.

2. Catling HighclareMary Poppins at Teleri slightly larger bitch again shown in beautiful coat and condition for an older girl, she has a pleasing head and gentle expression ,good front and deep chest sound steady mover just not the topline of the winner.

3. Budgell Robbielene Keely ShCm

Junior 14(2)

1. Beaton KettlehillsStar Performer beautifully ballanced young lady with a dark gleaming coat she has a pretty head dark eye andsoft appealling expression,is nicely constructed throughout with good bone and substance, deep well sprung ribs and developing well for her age, moved well.

2. Milligan Bott & Bott Thendara Vanilla Ice I have admired this girl from the ringside and was not disappointed going over her ,pretty head very typical of her breeding, she has a lovely outline and pleasing angulation fore and aft unfortunatly just not co-operating with her handler today to make the best of herself ,shown in lovely coat and condition.

3. Brady Reddins Frolic.

Yearling14(2)

1. Hunter& Brown Braidmount Midnight Lady JW racy ,elegant young lady, such a lovely outline, she is ballanced throughout from nose to tail and has a pretty head with a “cheeky irish” expression, good reach of neck, true front and neat feet, deep well sprung ribs, firm over topline and croup her quarters which have good width across the thigh ,well bent stifles and short hocks are put to good use in her sound free striding movement. One with a promising future.

2. Naylor and Morrison Anlory CarmenereJW another really nice bitch who appealled in her overall body propeties, pleasing in head and expression, well arched neck, good front assembly, deep chest ,firm gently sloping topline ,short coupling and strong well muscled quarters ,free mover, just not quite the finish of the winner and a bit proud of her tail today.

3. Smith Cordarragh Olivia.

Maiden 21(11)

1. Suttersett Wispa at Juldeane

2. Brady Reddins Frolic among Amberlight this girl was third in a nice junior class .slightly stronger in head but still with a gentle appealling expression , nicely constructed throughout with good reach of neck and clean outline, very well presented and sound on the move.

3. Box Fernstart Lovesong.

Novice 19(11)

1. Kettlehills Star Performer

2. SuttersettWispa at Juldeane

3 Reddins Frolic among Amberlight

Undergraduate 17(5)

1. Bridgewater BridgellasWinnie The Witch mature looking bitch with a lovely outline, pleasing in head and expression, clean well laid shoulders and true front ,deep brisket, firm topline, strong loin and quarters ,good croup and tailset, steady mover.

2. Gratton Reddins Lydia at Glenlaine smaller finer made bitch with no exagerations, she has a sweet pretty head and soft gentle expression ,clean outline witha gently sloping topline and good spring of rib ,she really appealled to me in type but needs to settle on the move.

3. Wilkins Margaretswood Buzzy Bee

Graduate 15(6)

1. Mugfords Lynwood Started with a Kiss well presented young lady very typical of the breeding from this kennel, she has a pretty head nicely proportioned through muzzle and scull with dark eyes giving a soft expression, she has a good reach of neck, well angulated shoulders, deep chest and strong quarters with good bend of stifle and short hocks ,shown today in good coat and moving soundly and freely.

2. Mortimer & Condron Covarney Coco a slightly longer cast bitch but really well constructed throughout lean well chiselled head deep brisket and strong well angulated quarters, she has a dark gleaming coat and is a happy free striding mover covering the ground with ease.

3. Naylor & Morrison Bardonhill Leaping Water oveer Anlory

Post Graduate21(2)

1. Powis Amberwave Freckles JW this girl really impressed me today so stylish and elegant her feminine head is lean and well balanced with dark eyes and a soft quizical expression she has good shoulder and front angulation deep well sprung ribs leading back to a strong loin, and is dropping nicely into her quarters now that she is maturing. Her profile movement and extension of stride is lovely to watch as she strides across the ground and is in super condition at the moment .I was pleased to award her the Res CC much to the surprise of her owner! Well done

2. Butler-Holly Shandwick Inspiration bitch with a pretty feminine head that has plenty of work in it she has dark eyes and a lovely expression and is nicely put together throughout with a well arched neck, good front and spring of rib,her quarters are well angulated with good hock placement shown today in lovely coat and condition , moving happily and freely.Unlucky to meet the winner on such good form

3. Holly Danaway Briana JW

Mid Limit 16(2)

This was a really nice class

1.Hinslea Northamber Causin` a Riot what a difference maturity has made to this girl she has a beautiful clean outline from nose to tail ,she is really nicely put together ,balanced throughout, good front, deep chest, well angulated quarters and neat hocks, she has a firm topline with good finish to croup. She scores on her sound free striding movement going round the ring with style.

2. Waddell Riqitta Shillelagh Gold another I have admired from the ringside and it was a pleasure to go over her she is a shorter cast girl than the winner and has an appealing head with dark eye and gentle expression well laid shoulders and deep brisket, gently sloping topline and good turn of stifle and hock placement, presented in nice coat and moving freely

3. Henderson Wickenberry Gazelle

Limit 14(7)

1. & CC Chorley Newton &Chorley Outfoxed by Kerryfair JW.I did this bitch well as a youngster ,now she is a mature young lady with a clean outline and correct topline .Going over her you start with a beautifully balanced head with low set ears her raised brows add to a soft gentle expression and she has a refined scull with good finish to foreface. Then down a well arched neck over clean nicely placed shoulders into a true front with neat feet – back up over deep well ribbed chest into strong loin and over her strong well muscled quarters which are not over exaggerated but give her a sound free striding movement .Finished off with a well presented coat and gently waving tail. Well done and good luck for the 3rd

2. Edden & Armstrong Rodgers Meadway Maddison another with a super outline her head is for me absolutely gorgeous dark melting eyes ,just the right amount of chiselling around the brows ,good front ,bone and feet ,deep brisket, firm topline and very well angulated quarters.Unfortunately just lacking a little coat underneath and also needing a bit more enthusiasm on the move ,even so her movement was sound

3. Crocker &Hammick Brabrook Fantasy Believer at Riverbrue

Open10(2)

1. Watt Sh Ch Shenanagin Shooting Star my notes say “this one surprised me” she`s not a flashy one but really impressive to go over with no exaggerations and nice clean lines. She has a pleasing head with soft expression ,good reach of neck, true front and deep chest, her quarters have enough angulation to give her a strong sound movement , she was in great coat and condition and very close up for top honours Thank you for bringing her.

2. Bouttell Ixia Genevieve another one I`ve done well as a youngster it`s nice to see how she`s matured and finished ,just recently gaining her title. She has a sweet head and gentle expression, good body propeties throughout, firm topline and strong well angulated quarters.Shown in good coat and condition she just looked a little “stuffy” in neck for me today.

3. Loughlin Ir Sh Ch Rohanmor My Blue Heaven
