Richmond Championship Show 13 September 2009

Critique - Judge: Mrs C A Sheldon (Delsanto)

Great show, great entry, great stewards. Thanks to all. I was very pleased at the end of the day that my Best of Breed was G2 in the Gundog Group. Very well done.

DOGS

Veteran Dog (4 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: EDWARDS Mrs S E Barleydale Lumiere
A young veteran of lovely type, handsome with kind dark eye, good depth to chest, excellent front, strong topline & liked his length in loin, good bend of stifle which he used well to move with verve which won him this class.

2nd: RICHARDSON Mrs L Sh Ch Kirkavagh Fidalgo
A dog I like, now 10 years old & looking superb. Carrying a little extra weight but why not at his time of life? Masculine head with appealing expression, not overdone in any way, slighter shorter body length than 1, good overall body properties. Close decision but youth just won through.

3rd: HARRISON Mr R L & Mrs B A Caskeys Voyager Sh.CM

Minor Puppy Dog (5 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: LAUWERS Mr W & Mrs A Thendara Frozen Asset
A raw young rangy dog, liked his head, eye & earset, good deep chest, ample bend of stifle, more balanced and steady at this stage than most of the other puppies. Ignored his changing puppy coat! BPD

2nd: JARY Mr & Mrs A Reddins Forager
This young boy has an appealing head with good finish to muzzle, kind eye, excellent topline & tailset, Lovely condition.

3rd: GREENAN Miss J Anlory The Living Daylights Over Juleset

Puppy Dog (6 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: TULLY Miss G A Highclare Knights Tail
Last puppy class for this boy, he certainly has good overall body properties with no exaggerations, head OK, with nice finish to foreface. Moved well. Just preferred type & eye of MP in challenge for BPD.

2nd: TUITE Miss C M H Porschet Paterson
A real baby but loved his dark kind eye & head shape. Good front, deep chest. Still lots of developing to do in body & mind as determined to give his handler a hard time..

3rd: RORKE Mrs J C Cataluna Pole Position

Junior Dog (15 Entries) Abs: 4

1st: BARKER-BELL Mrs G Balintyne Wish Me Luck
Nice type of dog, masculine with nice finish to foreface, good neck & shoulders, strong topline & hindquarters, tailset fine & a very steady mover.

2nd: BUCHAN Mrs J A Loskeran Dream Maker
Upstanding dog, well constructed with balanced body properties, nice head with kind dark eye, moved OK

3rd: VALLANCE Ms K P Braidmount Midnight Roue

Yearling Dog (12 Entries) Abs: 2

1st: MURRAY, Mrs J A & BERRY Miss G L Harvancourt Capello
Very nice promising young dog, dark coat of good colour & texture, deep chest, good spring of rib, good topline & tail set. Moved well.

2nd: GARDNER Miss T Riqitta Authentic
Another promising boy, similar to one in many ways, chestnut colour, handsome head with dark eye, moved steadily.

3rd: BARKER-BELL Mrs G Balintyne Wish Me Luck

Graduate Dog (15 Entries) Abs: 3

1st: NAYLOR, Mr N & MORRISON Miss J Anlory Bonarda JW
This dog won this class easily with his overall confirmation & soundness. He has a very well balanced head, nice eye shape, good finish to foreface & he excels with his first class, very appealing body properties, strode out well on the move, I’m sure he will have a very bright future

2nd: BALDRY Mr & Mrs J. E Scarletti Razzle Dazzle At Derryveagh
Nice dog, lovely head with kind dark eye, super front & good reach of neck & good topline. Good quarters & bend of stifle. Moved steadily

3rd: BROWN Miss D K Caskeys Hazard

Post Graduate Dog (16 Entries) Abs: 3

1st: CUDDY Mr & Mrs J V Balbriggan Royal Rebel JW
Little to choose between 1 & 2, nice type, good deep chest & well sprung ribs, good topline & movement OK. Liked the skull shape & softness of expression in head of 1 & really dark mahogany colour & coat type & texture

2nd: BARKER-BELL Mrs G Balintyne Chances Are JW
As 1, nice type & liked his croup & tailset & moved well. Just preferred head of winner.

3rd: POWIS Mr & Mrs J P Amberwave Breezer

Mid Limit Dog (6 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: BOTT Mrs M Bardonhill Ginger-whinger JW
This dog is not a big boy and he won on his overall type & his exquisite head with dark eye & wistful expression. Lovely shaped skull, well balanced head into nice reach of neck, well placed shoulders, good front, nicely proportioned body with ample bend of stifle. Moved soundly with style. RCC

2nd: EDWARDS Mrs S E Gwendariff Rockin Robin JW
Different type, but another with really good body properties, very well balanced all through and presented & handled well. He moves soundly with drive and will certainly have his day. I preferred the softer expression and type of my winner

3rd: DANKS-KEMISH Mrs R D Tiroen Time After Time For Alolfran JW

Limit Dog (11 Entries) Abs: 2

1st: LAKE, Mrs B E & HERON Mrs Caskeys Checkmate
Lots to like, short coupled dog with super head, nicely shaped dark eyes, good neck & shoulders, correct front. Shown in lovely coat & condition & moved OK.

2nd: HILLOCKS Mrs I Spirit Of The South To Jonola
Super type of dog, dark mahogany coat in lovely condition, very well made with good body properties but determined to give his handler a difficult time by being unco-operative. Moved OK

3rd: WILLIS Mr W & Mrs J Jacwilins Willoughby JW

Open Dog (5 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: LAUWERS Mr W & Mrs A Jonola Dr Doolittle
This dog was the star of the day. His extrovert personality makes sure he is never overlooked. He is a lovely type of dog, dark coated in lovely condition & lots of feathering produces the perfect package. He is a handsome boy with a mischievous twinkle in his dark eyes, he has first rate good overall body properties in every department & moves round the ring with style. CC, BOB & G2 Gundog Group

2nd: SMITH Mr & Mrs J Sh Ch Reddins Pause At Magiconkers
Nice dog from this kennel, lots to like about him, good deep chest, well sprung ribs, good topline & shown in nice coat. Moved well. Certainly considered him for the RCC

3rd: FAUVRELLE Mr B D J & Mrs L J Sh Ch Shaytell Andante

BITCHES

Veteran Bitch (7 Entries) Abs: 3

1st: WATERTON Miss S Lynwood Strands Of Silk At Sandstream JW Sh.CM
Lovely head with sweet expression, well balanced body with good quarters and she moved really well for her 7 ¾. Shown in good condition.

2nd: STEVENSON Mr G & Mrs C Lochlorien Miss Marple Cops Andley
Another very pretty lady who is a young veteran. Lots to like about her, ample reach of neck with good topline and tailset . Moved OK. Not in her best coat although plenty of feathering

3rd: MARTIN Mrs L Ixia Tabitha

Minor Puppy Bitch (7 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: ABBOTT Mrs D M Anlory Pussy Galore
Well balanced baby, good front, lovely tight feet, deep chest nicely bodied for age. Pretty girl who was very happy on the move

2nd: HOGARTH, Mrs P & ELKINS Mrs M Avacet Snow Bird
Another promising baby, elegant, dark coated and of lovely type. Not as steady on the move as 1 but early days yet.

3rd: BRADY Mr M F & Mrs C A Reddins Frolic Among Amberlight

Puppy Bitch (14 Entries) Abs: 3

1st: WALSH Miss J Millcroft Ballad Of The Moon
This is a little star in the making. She is gorgeous with an exquisite head with kind dark eye & melting expression, lovely low set ears, good neck & shoulders, excellent body properties, beautiful coat in colour & texture. I really liked her BPB , Best Puppy in Breed

2nd: DOUTHWAITE, Miss A & WHARFE Miss S Gracewood Shannon
Different type to 1, dark chestnut coat in good condition, elegant body shape with deep chest, shoulders OK, nice length to body with good quarters. Sweet head and kind eye. Happy mover.

3rd: HENSON Mrs O Millcroft Moon Gypsy For Tatsbro

Junior Bitch (15 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: HUNTER, Ms M & BROWN Mr W Braidmount Midnight Lady
This is a daughter of my CC winner and has a lot of her mother about her. She is nicely constructed and of super type. Had to move well to win over another very nice bitch

2nd: NAYLOR, Mr N & MORRISON Miss J Anlory Carmenere JW
Close up to my winner and has lots of potential. She is very sound and well balanced with a nice head and expression. Preferred the finish of foreface on this girl to my winner

3rd: BARKER-BELL Mrs G Balintyne Luck Be A Lady

Yearling Bitch (12 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: MUGFORD Mr R C & Mrs J Lynwood Started With A Kiss JW

2nd: WATERTON Miss S Lynwood Kissed By An Angel At Sandstream JW
These 2 litter sisters are both very well constructed and it is only small factors that made me choose the winner. I like them both for their overall type and soundness, they moved with drive and each has a nice head but my winner has a slightly more refined head which I found more appealing. A difficult decision.

3rd: KING Mr S C & Mrs L M Kirkavagh Ivanjica JW

GB (11 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: STEVENSON Mr G & Mrs C Lochlorien Prime Suspect for Andley JW
Pretty bitch, lovely shaped head with dark eye and low set ears, good neck & shoulders, plenty of spring of rib, held her topline on the move with good tailset. Excellent quarters and bend of stifle which she used to move with drive.

2nd: NAPTHINE, Mr K & FRAMPTON Mrs J Strathmead India Hicks
Steady mover, nice sound elegant bitch with lots to like, pretty head with nice expression and dark eye.

3rd: POWIS Mr & Mrs J P Amberwave Freckles JW

PGB (18 Entries) Abs: 3

1st: ROUT Mr & Mrs R D Shaytell My Happiness
Nice type, really pretty head and dark eye with sweet expression. Good neck & shoulders, deep chest, straight front, well-angulated rear quarters. In good coat & condition although in my opinion carrying a little extra weight today

2nd: SMITH Mr & Mrs J Reddins Holly
Sweet headed, with nice eye and finish to foreface. Overall body properties were well balanced and lots to like about her. Moved OK

3rd: GOUTORBE Mrs R E Atron Tiffanie At Redhara

MdLB (11 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: CHORLEY-NEWTON, Mrs S E & CHORLEY Miss K Outfoxed By Kerryfair JW
This was a very good class & the winners will undoubtedly change places in the future, it is really down to the dog on the day & personal preference of type.
A beautiful feminine bitch with lovely dark, kind eye. She oozes quality, balanced body properties & I particularly liked her dark colour & type. RCC

2nd: BERRY, B & MORRIS, L Brinara Winter Cherry JW
Another beautiful bitch, very well constructed & so much to like about her. Very sound mover & shown in lovely condition. Her owner should be very proud of her and I m sure she will have her day. Today she was very unlucky to meet 1 who was on top form.

3rdNAYLOR, Mr N & MORRISON Miss J Anlory Cereza JW

Limit Bitch (15 Entries) Abs: 3

1st: MUGFORD Mr R C & Mrs J Lynwood Follow Your Dreams JW
Another very good class. Loved her typiness, deep chest, nice length to body, good strong top line, well-angulated hindquarters which she used to advantage to move soundly round the ring. Nice shaped feminine head. Certainly a contender for the top awards.

2nd: HALL Mrs K A Glennara Lehana JW
Another beautiful bitch and on first look I thought she would be my winner. All the same comments as for 1 apply with regard to her body properties. She lost out as today she didn’t move with quite the drive of 1 but I am sure she will go on to gain top honours

3rd: WILKINS Mrs J Margretwoods Kitty Cat JW

OB (7 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: HUNTER, Ms M & BROWN Mr W Sh Ch Braidmount Geisha Girl
It was a privilege to have the opportunity to judge this beautiful girl today. I gave her a RCC when she was 2 years old & I am so pleased she has gone on to have such a brilliant show career. I judged her critically today as she is now 7 & time could have taken its toll but no, she is at her prime & I have no criticism at all. I think her body properties excel, her head is so feminine & appealing, her condition & coat were first class & she moved round the ring with charisma & drive. CC

2nd: VALLANCE Ms K P Braidmount Georgie Girl Sh.CM
Litter sister to 1 and her body properties are quite similar. She is very pleasing, so sound & moves well. In comparison to her top winning sister, she may be a touch bigger & not quite have the exquisite expression but still out of the top drawer.

3rd: HERON Mr, Mrs & Miss Sh Ch Caskeys Happy Hour JW

Mrs C A Sheldon
