Critique - Judge Dogs. Julie Wilkins
I would like to thank the exhibitors for a most quality entry. I was extremely pleased with my final line up of absolutely superb dogs. They all possessed all the traits and qualities I was looking for in a top class Irish Setter and were all excellent examples of the breed type.
My only criticism would be that judges and ultimately breeders seem to be unable to appreciate correct shoulder angulation so that a good layback of shoulder with return of upper arm is becoming increasingly rare. It is this good front angulation, coupled with correct rear angulation and tailset, that creates the distinctive shape of the Irish with its trademark striking flowing topline. Let us not loose this.
