Critique - Judge - Bitches - Mrs Gillian Dale

I would like to thank my helpful & efficient stewards who kept everything running smoothly & the exhibitors for well-presented quality bitches.

I was very pleased with my final line up, all representing what I consider essentially Irish: racy, balanced & full of quality.

My main criticism is heads are getting coarse, bordering on doggy with little or no chiselling & lack of expression, due in the main to eyes of the incorrect shape, size & colour. Too dark an eye gives a very dead flat expression, round eyes a startled vacant look. The standard calls for not too large an eye, preferably like an unshelled almond in shape, head shape oval.

1^st Gilbert & Willis  JONOLA DANCING QUEEN OF CLANOVENTA , very nice youngster although only entry in class, fully deserved her place. Good balance for age and steady movement. In good coat & condition

1^ST  Catling   SHANDWICK STAR SHINE AT TELERI, Best Puppy  liked this young lady, in excellent coat & condition .Well off for bone and I liked her head proportions oval, with low ears & defined occiput. Presented a complete picture- sound steady movement for one so young.

2^ND Farndell  CORDARRAGH PORTIA,  Different style giving her handler a hard time, not as mature as 1^st good balance & shape, pretty head correct eye.

Good class with some very promising youngsters,  

1^st  Parker & Tweedie  BURRENMIST MORNING STAR,   liked this young lady’s type, elegant shape good body with a spring of rib. Correct length of neck & lay of shoulder. Super head & expression, kind & soft. Started a bit wobbly giving her handler a hard time but gained in confidence & could not be denied her place, sound steady movement.

2^ND BELL & Barker-Bell  AVONFARM BALINTYNE ON BROARDWAY (IMP USA)

Another very good bitch, one to watch, liked her overall balance & body shape. Moved with a sound steady gait. Very close decision between these 2. Required head properties but just lacking in expression compared to 1.

3^RD Heppell  DEEVONVILLE SANTA LUCIA JW, another close decision substantial bitch of good balance & style, not the finish of above.

1^ST Price, SEVERNVALE HIGH CLASS BABE JW, very elegant & freeflowing on the move. Standing presented a balanced picture. Good depth & spring of rib, strong top line .Beautiful head & eye, soft & expressive. Just needs time to mature into the finished article

2^ND Rose-hay & Argard,  CATALUNA PRECIOUS P, another very good bitch that excels on the move. Built on smaller lines with excellent balance & strength without being coarse. Soft expressive eyes. Another who should have a very bright future just needs time to complete the picture

3^RD Lorrimer, DANAWAY DOMINIQUE,  well presented sound bitch presented a good overall picture. Not the head & expression of above.

2^ND  Rose-Hay & Argard  CATALUNA PRECIOUS P Preferred head & expression of this bitch but at the moment 1 has the edge on maturity & finish.

3^rd  DECONARA RHAPSODY IN BLUE AT DANBRYELI,  res in a very strong junior class, pretty young lady good steady sound movement

Looked very much the baby in this class but had all the essentials just needs time

A very hot class all placed of good quality & type , worthy winners

1^st Powis AMBERWAVE FRECKLES , super bitch excellent construction elegant flowing lines sound steady gait driving from behind, strong muscular loin giving a good top line lovely neck & shoulders.

2^nd Ross, AUTUMNGLOW OLIVINA, another very elegant bitch, beautiful head & expression excellent balance, good spring of rib. Correct sound movement could just have been more animated.

3^rd Barker-Bell, BALINTTYNE LUCK BE A LADY,   Immature compared to the above but very worthy of her place in the strong class similar remarks apply

1^st  Berry & Morris BRINARA WINTER CHERRY, Very strong contender for top honours. Mature bitch in full coat superb shape & balance, nothing-exaggerated strong gently sloping top line. Moved with style & drive

2^ND Morgan  KERRSIENNA A PAGE IN HISTORY FOR DEACONARA JW (IMP USA) Built on similar lines. Not a big one but very sound excels on the move, just preferred head & expression of 1

3^rd. Cox  TIROEN TAKE MY BREATH AWAY JW,  not in her best bib & tucker today.

L (11, 4) 

1^st Price , SEVERNVALE SHEER HEAVEN,  CC  Beautiful bitch now matured in the a very elegant  lady, excels on the move striding out showing power & purpose which took her to the top spot. Superb construction. Excellent front angulations strong loin well bent stifle leading in to short powerful hocks, which she used to advantage on the move.  Best of heads with a soft melting expression.

2^nd Gardner CARNBARGUS CONTEMPLATION,  Res CC  another beautifully constructed bitch built on similar lines to 1 & same remarks apply not quite the animation of my CC winner.

3^rd  Drinkwater BRABROOK BABUSHKA   Beautiful shape elegant & feminine just needs to coat up to complete the picture, another good mover

1^st Prangle  TANNYMAC COULD IT BE MAGIC AT HEATHCLARE  very stylish bitch in good bloom,  excellent construction  strong & elegant excels on the move driving off short strong hocks.

2^nd  Rose-hay APPLEGROVE STELLA BY STARLIGHT AT CATALUNA  ,What a fidget,  really coming into her own, built on smaller lines to 1 but  balanced & elegant from any angle, excels in neck & shoulders ,  at her best on the move where she strides out with purpose & driver  very close decision between these 2

3^rd Loughlin  IR SH CH ROHANMOR MY BLUE HEAVEN SHCM  Stronger type of bitch strong active movement, beautifully presented.
