Irish Setter Dogs

Many thanks for the pleasing entry at my first appointment awarding CCs, I do appreciate this.  I was surprised to see so many exhibitors present owing to the poor weather and road conditions, and I hope everyone arrived home without mishap. Whilst judging I found a variety of both coat and head types;and all dogs were immaculately presented.

MPD (9, 2 abs)

Liked the first two very much, both should have a bright future.

1 Gisby and Pike’s Suteresett Milky Way With Scarletti. 8 months well built puppy. Lovely head and dark eye, arched neck and good lay of shoulders. Super front angulation. Rich mahogany coat. Steady mover.

2. Swainston’s Glenvarna Givenchy.  7 months baby. Ample bone and body, depth of brisket and sloping topline. Dark, straight coat. Just loved his head. Moved out well.

3. Cuddy’s Suteresett Royal Ripple at Balbriggan.

PD (16, 5 abs.)

1. Greenan’s Anlory the Living Daylights Over Julesett, BPD.

Most promising striking youngster. Great shape, substantially built on flowing lines. Balanced, handsome head, correct eye and rich coat. Good angulation fore and aft. Excellent neck into shoulder placement. Moved with drive. Sound all through.

2. Suteresett Milky Way With Scarletti.

3. Wigfull and Hartley’s Anlory Goldfinger

JUNIOR  D (12, 4 abs.)

1. Kniveton’s Feylinci Beachcomber At Orstone. Gorgeous masculine head, pronounced occiput, dark eye, raised brows giving quizzical expression. Straight front, gently sloping topline, good depth to brisket. Moved steadily around ring. He really is developing into a super dog.

2. Rorke’s  Cataluna Pole Position. Another quality exhibit.Super oval head with kind expression. Liked his overall shape.  Scores in angulation, spring of rib, strong back, good bend of stifle, and straight hocks enabling him to move effortlessly, with style. Good croup and tail carriage. Neat arched feet. Rich chestnut coat completed the picture.

3. Wood’s Reddins Falcon.

YD (7, 4 abs.)

1. Harvey’s Jubliana Murphy Midnight Star. True melting expression.  Longer cast than 2.  Well put together.  Sound hindquarters with well bent stifles.  Really close decision between 1 and 2, just preferred coat of 1.

2. Mugford’s Coppers Undercover At Lynwood. Compact, balanced dog. Excellent spring of rib, has powerful hindquarters enabling him to move well.

3.Loughlins Rohanmor You Were Made For Me.

GRADUATE DOG (8, 7 abs.)

1. Gardner’s Riqitta Authentic. Dark gleaming coat. Balanced head with good expression. Medium sized dog, well off for bone. Deep chest, well ribbed up. Good turn of stifle, and correct tail placement. Full chestnut coat in lovely condition.  Went well on a loose lead.

POST GRADUATE D. (16, 6 abs.)

CC and in complete agreement with my fellow judge, B.O.B.

1. Holley and Cheney’s Gwendariff Pop the Question.JW.  A most elegant racy dog with tremendous ring presence, and a wonderful silhouette. Excellent conformation, substance and balance. Scores in handsome, chiselled head and soft expression, with just a hint of mischief in those dark eyes.  Has raised brows with correct stop.  Straight front, good depth of brisket, strong arched neck, flowing into laid back shoulders. Well ribbed, gently sloping topline, great bend of stifle, and powerful hindquarters. Enthusiastic driving movement. All quality! Very pleased to be able award him his first CC.  Just loved him !

2. Kniveton’s Serrula Playaround At Orstone. Liked him as a puppy and still do!  A sound dog with good conformation. Presents an attractive outline, with super flowing lines. Dark gleaming coat. Well balanced head with good stop. Firm topline with wide quarters, used to advantage.

3. Gisby’s  Scarletti Wacky Races by Suteresett.

LIMIT D. (21, 13 abs.)

1. Edwards Gwendariff Rockin Robin. Flashy head-turning setter.  Coat in wonderful gleaming condition. Sound in body. Good front and rear angles. A pleasure to watch him stride effortlessly around the ring.

2. Milligand-Bott and Bott Scotslaw Detroit Spinner by Thendara. Another racy,  stylish dog. Appealing head and eye, loved his long low earset.  Shown in excellent coat and feathering. Sound conformation, balanced throughout. Kept his topline on the move,  presenting  a most elegant picture.

3. Rose-Hay, Quinn and McNamara’s Cataluna Regency Rake.

OPEN D. (9, 7 abs.)

1. Bott and Morgan’s Sh Ch Ember Gene Simmons Sings Quensha (Imp.)

Such a sound honest dog. No exaggeration anywhere. Built on substantial, flowing lines. Good body shape, really stood over the ground. Head has the kind, gentle expression, that all setters should! Moved so well, a joy to watch. A well deserved RCC.

2.Rorke’s Cataluna Captivatione To Zakhan. Well bodied dog. Good depth of brisket, straight dark coat. Pleasant expression.  Moved soundly.
