A Record Breaking Win at
Gundog Society of Wales Championship Show
Congratulations to
Sh.Ch. Braidmount Geisha Girl
The New Irish Setter Bitch Challenge Certificate Record Holder
The beautiful Sh.Ch. Braidmount Geisha Girl, bred and owned by Mona Hunter and Will Brown was awarded her 28th Challenge Certificate at the Gundog Society of Wales Championship show, on 14 October 2009, under judge: Mrs Pat Butler-Holley. Along with co-judge Mr Brian Limpus She was then awarded Best of Breed.
A new Challenge Certificate record for a bitch. Misha, as she is known at home, also has 14 Reserve Challenge Certificates. She has been awarded Best of Breed 10 times during her career which has spanned over the last 6 years. Misha’s career took off when she was awarded her first Challenge Certificate at Paignton in 2005 under Judge Dee Milligan-Bott.
Misha, whelped 12 August 2002, is the product of a mating between two illustrious Show Champions her sire being Sh.Ch. Konakakela Zagar by Romarne and her dam Sh.Ch. Laggan Shushoni Maiden.
After taking time off to have a litter herself in 2008 Misha returned to the show ring this year to set the new record.
Sh.Ch. Braidmount Geisha Girl who lives in Edinburgh, succeeded the existing Bitch Challenge Certificate record holder who also hailed from Scotland.
The previous Bitch CC record of 27 Challenge Certificates (and 10 Reserve Challenge Certificates), set in 1985, was held by Sh.Ch. Glendronach Girl. Chuffie was whelped on 17 February 1978 she was sired by Healaval Firecrest ex Lornford Tyrone Lady and bred by Mrs E J Pirie. She was owned by Derek and Hazel Masson from Elgin, Moray, in the far north of Scotland from where she was fearlessly campaigned – no mean feat in those days.
Sh.Ch. Glendronach Girl was awarded her first CC in 1980 and her Challenge Certificate wins spanned over the next five years. I am sure that some of you, slightly older folk, will remember this lovely bitch for her outstanding flowing movement around the ring.
